Frank M. and Eleanor R. Miese Fund: Investing in the Future of Cooperstown’s Children
Frank and Eleanor Miese believed in giving back to the place that shaped them, ensuring that future generations of children in Cooperstown and surrounding communities would have the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. In 2019, their vision became a reality through the Frank M. and Eleanor R. Miese Fund, an endowed, field-of-interest fund dedicated to supporting underprivileged, orphaned, dependent, neglected, delinquent, and disadvantaged children.
Since its establishment, the fund has provided over $215,000 in grants and $90,000 in scholarships, directly improving the lives of children and families through educational programs, family support services, and scholarships for high school graduates pursuing college, university, technical, or trade school.
A Legacy of Giving Back
With an extraordinary gift of over $1.3 million, Frank and Eleanor Miese created a lasting impact that continues to serve children in Cooperstown Borough, Jackson Township, Utica Borough, Canal Township, and surrounding areas. Their generosity fuels a range of family support programs, educational services, and prevention initiatives, all aimed at strengthening families and giving children the tools to succeed.
Making a Difference in the Community
One local project that has directly benefited from the fund is the Cooperstown Library, which has seen incredible transformations thanks to Miese Fund grants:
“With this funding, the Cooperstown Library has made many changes to serve the families in our local community, neighborhood, and school. The library has been completely painted, new furniture has been added, and many new resources such as books, STEM kits, and supplies have been introduced. Programs for all ages are thriving, and due to increased attendance, we have even extended our hours!”
